Reggae Girlz U-17 Open Concacaf Qualifiers Against Guyana in Aruba

Jamaica’s Under-17 Reggae Girlz begin their qualifying campaign today when they face Guyana in Group D action of the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship. The match is set for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff at the Stadion Guillermo Prospero Trinidad.

This will be the second time the two teams have met at this level. Their only previous encounter came back in 2011, when Jamaica secured a convincing 5-0 victory. Shadie Shirley led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Tiffany Robinson and Nicola Broderick also found the net.

Historically, Jamaica has been dominant against Caribbean opposition in Under-17 women’s qualifiers and remains unbeaten in such matchups. Guyana, on the other hand, are still searching for their first win in nine regional qualifier games, having scored just twice over that span.

The opening round of the qualifiers runs from January 24 to February 2 and represents the first step on the road to the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup 2026. Up to 30 Concacaf member associations are competing in this phase, all aiming to advance to the final round.

At the end of round one, the eight group winners and the two best second-place teams will move on to join four seeded nations—Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States—in the final stage. Those 12 teams will then battle for four Concacaf spots at the World Cup, scheduled for October to November this year.

Group D also includes Honduras and St Vincent and the Grenadines, alongside Jamaica, Guyana, and host nation Aruba.
