Dancehall artiste Chronic Law has reportedly been taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States. The detainment is said to have occurred on Tuesday, and as of now, the entertainer has not been released.
Details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest and the specific facility where he is being held have not been made public. However, a representative from the artiste’s team confirmed the detainment, telling Nationwide News that Chronic Law was arrested in Florida.
ICE has not issued an official statement explaining the reason for the custody, but the deejay’s legal name, Ackeme Jermaine Campbell, appears on the agency’s detainee locator website. Following news of the arrest on Wednesday, a mugshot began circulating online, with many assuming it was linked to the ICE matter.
Reports later clarified that the image dates back to November 15, 2025, when Chronic Law was previously arrested in Turner County, Georgia, over alleged traffic violations. At that time, he was accused of several offences, including attempting to flee police, reckless driving, improper lane changes, failure to exercise due care, and speeding. Authorities said he was ultimately charged only for driving-related offences and had no further run-ins with law enforcement in that county after the incident.
Chronic Law is a prominent figure in the dancehall scene, known for his gritty, street-influenced sound. He rose to wider recognition both as a solo act and as a member of the Sixx (6ixx) collective, alongside fellow Jamaican artistes Squash and Daddy One. In December, his impact on the genre was underscored when Spotify named him the most-streamed dancehall artist on the platform for 2025.
News of his ICE detainment has sparked widespread concern among fans, with online speculation suggesting a possible connection to his past legal issues in Georgia. However, there is currently no official confirmation linking the two cases.
