A woman died after collapsing inside a church in Stony Hill, St Andrew, on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Valerie Dubidad, a resident of Airy Castle Road in the Stony Hill area.
According to reports, about 9:45 a.m., Dubidad was seated inside the Church of God of Prophecy when she suddenly fell from her chair. Witnesses said she appeared to be breathing heavily before becoming unresponsive.
The Stony Hill police were contacted, and she was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Church members who were inside the building said Dubidad had attended an earlier service and seemed to be in good spirits and good health, actively taking part in the worship.
One female congregant said she heard what sounded like someone in distress and later saw Dubidad fall to the floor.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
