On the eve of International Women's Day, which is being widely observed both globally and in Jamaica, the Hanover police arrested a woman who allegedly attacked and injured a female district constable in the parish on Wednesday.
Reports are that the district constable was in the Cousin's Cove area of the parish making enquiries relative to a report to the police about a child being in need of care and protection.
While seeking to find the child, the constable was reportedly attacked and chopped on her hands by a woman who is believed to be on unsound mind.
Citizens in the community reportedly came quickly to the assistance of the policewoman, resulting in her escaping more injuries.
The cop was taken to hospital, where she was treated and released.
